May 2012

Here are some of the happenings from the merry old month of May:

* Eric is really enjoying the weather. He's been able to play outside a lot more and just loves to play with the various balls he's got. His favorites are his Thomas the Tank Engine ball and his baseball. He's developing quite an arm, though he is looking to be right handed (sorry Daddy). He also likes to take paper towel holders and turn them into "bats" that he knocks the balls off our hands "tees" with.

* We had a trip to Des Moines that was nice. We saw friends and family, and Eric got his second haircut, which went...well, it was better than the first one. We went to a different place and they were nicer and had better stuff. He got goldfish crackers and I found a Thomas and Friends to play on my phone. (He really likes trains lately.) He did okay until she got the buzzers out, and that's when the tantrum started. He got over it a LOT quicker this time, though. :-)

* We had a FABULOUS Memorial Day weekend in Lake View, IA at the state park there. Our family, Carla, Eric, and Evan Olson, and Mara, Jon, and Eli Bailey all shared a cabin (really, it was a house) for the long weekend and had a wonderful time. The boys loved playing together, and it was wonderful to see a much more interactive 4-1/2-month-old Eli. We (well, Jon really) did a lot of cooking over the fire and only had one really burned sandwich (Peter)! It was great to relax and enjoy our friends' company!

* Otherwise, it's life and learning as usual. We're thrilled to watch as Eric learns more and more every single day. He loves to read and will regularly bring us books, then climb into our laps for us to read. Then, he'll go and get more and more! I LOVE that he loves to read.
