It's so hard to believe our little sweet is already a month old today. Here are some observations:
Things it's really nice to be able to do again:
1. Tie my own shoes
2. Stand closer to the stove when cooking (not that I have much time for that these days)
3. Sit a normal distance from the steering wheel when driving
4. See my toes
Some things we've learned about and through parenting:
1. It is possible to be a walking, talking zombie.
2. It is possible to re-aggravate carpal tunnel simply through burping a baby.
3. With a boy, especially, the faster the diaper transition, the better.
4. When sponge bathing a baby (again, especially with a boy), have an extra towel on hand for the fountain you're about to witness...it's easier than cleaning up the bathroom floor later.
5. Patience is key.
6. You go through WAAAAY more diapers than you would think.
7. Peter's got the magic "calming the baby down" touch....and is an all around amazing and natural father.
8. Sleep/Gas smiles and laughs are so amazing. We're just DYING to see a real smile. He's working on it, too. When he's in a good mood, if we smile big at him, he starts working his mouth and cheeks trying to smile back. He's getting close!
9. This is the best thing ever. Even when we're tired, can't get him to stop crying, and have to take turns eating dinner and sleeping, we are having so much fun and are so happy to be exactly where we are in life...and to have this perfect little piece of us.
There are many other things and will be even more, and I'm sure I'll occasionally blog about them, but this is as comprehensive as my tired, addled brain could come up with for now. :-)
