* Eric came with me to Grinnell for my five-year reunion. He got to see where Mama and Daddy met, met a bunch of our friends, and see Mama sing with some friends. Babi came along to watch him so I could spend some quality time with friends, too!!
* Eric sat up from his tummy all by himself for the first time, and then just kept doing it. It's amazing how quickly he perfects these things...he'll be practicing for weeks, and then somehow, a light switch goes up and he's able to do it just as though he always could.
* We took Eric to the Omaha Zoo with Aunt Catherine. He especially liked the sea lions (I think because they kind of look and sound like big dogs), the aquarium (bright colors) and the jungle (waterfalls and colorful birds). Later on in the month, we went to the Blank Park Zoo with his Babi, and he really liked the penguins!
* Eric had his first non-cereal solids -- peas -- and LOVED them. They're still one of his favorites!
* We celebrated Grandma Maggie's birthday and Grandpa Bob's birthday, too! Eric's so lucky to be blessed with so many wonderful grandparents!!
* Eric went to the emergency room twice this month. He had a virus that made him throw up everything in his stomach, poor little guy. He got IV fluids the second time, and then got over the bug on his own. He was such a tough little guy, even smiling through his discomfort at the doctors and nurses, despite having to get an x-ray, have blood drawn, and get an IV in his arm -- all things that aren't fun for grown-ups, let alone a six and a half month old baby!! It just broke our hearts to see him in that position, but we were so worried about our sweet little baby. It also didn't help his weight check at his doctor's appointment! He plateaued this month because he hadn't kept anything down for a few days!!!
* Eric pulled himself to standing toward the end of the month. I was reading him a big tall book and he just pulled himself up on it! Then he looked around surprised to be seeing the world from so high up! Then he just kept pulling himself up and up and up!! Now he does it ALL THE TIME!
* He reached out for me for the first time when he wanted to be picked up. It's incredible how these small things just melt your heart!!
* Eric went to the pool for the first time. He wore his awesome squid swimsuit and got to float around in his infant floatie. He mostly seemed confused to be in the big bathtub...he didn't seem to enjoy it much this time (something that REALLY changed over the course of the next couple months!!), but we had fun, anyway.
